Soon I will undergo an examination at the University of Southern California Medical Center. My treating doctor referred me to Los Angeles. He said that there are new examination methods for my condition, and it would be good to get checked at this hospital. My sister decided to accompany me there, and now we are looking for budget hotels. I will spend most of my time in the hospital, so we do not need luxurious accommodation; comfortable beds, cleanliness, and a pleasant environment will be enough to make our stay enjoyable. I found 7 decent options that fit our budget of up to 200 dollars (with some plus 20 dollars), and now I want to study them in more detail. The image galleries and prices get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on May 23, 2025.

In this place, I really liked the lounge area on the open terrace, which offers a beautiful view of the skyscrapers and greenery; at night it will be very atmospheric there. Also, there are panoramic windows that can be opened. It seems to me that the view will be beautiful, and my trip will take on joyful colors.
The fastest way to get to the University of Southern California Medical Center is by bus #78 or J Line metro (910/950), taking no more than 30 minutes. A taxi will take only about 11 minutes, which is also very quick.
There is also a free shuttle service, but it will only go within a 3-mile radius of the hotel. I think you can inquire about its route when booking, and maybe we can use it. It also has a convenient schedule: daily from 07:00 to 22:00.
I liked that the rooms have a makeup mirror with lighting and a hairdryer. The rooms are quite cozy, although the design is not entirely to my taste; I liked the first hotel much more in comparison. But at least there is a coffee machine and a flat-screen TV. Overall, not bad. You can book a deluxe double room with two queen beds for $215, which is really great!
The hotel is located in the very center of Los Angeles, and it is incredibly convenient, as many interesting places are right there. For example, the Nokia L.A. Live theater is 1.8 km away, the observation deck with the glass slide OUE Skyspace LA, or the Museum of Contemporary Art. I am very interested in it, I think that my sister and I would definitely visit it.
At the Noe bar-restaurant, they serve dishes made from fresh farm products, which pleased me very much! Only breakfast here is paid, it will cost 100 dollars more. I think this option does not quite suit us. But I found a nice café near the hospital, Moreton Fig, I think it will be more convenient for us to have breakfast there.

I immediately noted that the hotel is located in the city center and has a convenient location relative to the transport interchange. They also say it is in a safe area, and we are certainly pleased with this fact.
I liked that you can leave the hotel on multiple buses and the metro, and all routes are direct. I think it’s very convenient. It takes from 30 to 40 minutes.
Of course, the fastest way is to take a taxi, the journey will take from 12 to 15 minutes.
I liked the double rooms with two beds. I especially appreciated the small pedestal they are on; I think it will be cozy to sleep on such a bed.
I did not appreciate that there is no full bathroom; there is one large bedroom that is separated by a curtain from the bath. This is quite inconvenient for me. I think that because of this detail, I will not choose this hotel, although it is quite nice itself and conveniently located; such details repel me.
There are atmospheric zones in the lounge, good restaurants, and there is a fitness center (maybe my sister would want to go there). But the lighting in one area is too neon-bright for me, while in another I liked the small fire pit where you can sit cozy in the evening.

There is a really cool pool and a rooftop bar with a 360-degree view of the city. I felt a relaxed atmosphere at Freehand, reminiscent of a vacation. I hope that staying here can brighten my hospital days.
If you take the bus, I would take number 78, it's the shortest and most direct route, about half an hour of travel. Or by taxi in 10-14 minutes.
Two blocks from the hotel is Pershing Square and Grand Hope Park, where I would gladly take a walk after the hospital.
I would choose a room with a very large double bed because I couldn't find any rooms with two beds. But this one is not bad, with a large bathroom (complete), a TV, and even two sofas. However, they don't provide towels here, only for a fee, and bed linen. I didn't quite understand the latter, as I wouldn't want to bring my own, right? In the reviews, I saw that indeed there are no blankets or sheets on the beds to cover up with. In my opinion, this is quite strange. And, unfortunately, because of this, I wouldn't want to stay here. After all, I am going for treatment, and I can't tolerate such a lack of comfort.

I liked the area surrounding this hotel with a small park. It's very atmospheric and pleasant to be in such a place. Also, from the windows, you can see those wonderful trees, streams, and flowers — just a magical landscape!
This hotel is currently the closest of all. Why didn't I put it first? I don't even know😁 You can get there by taxi in just 9-11 minutes, and by bus in 30 minutes if you take bus 78 or 106. The variety of direct routes is not as extensive as in the third option, but there are choices available.
Compared to the colorful hotel grounds, the rooms here are plain, in my opinion. But there are also options for people with disabilities, including hearing impairments. I also found one with two beds. I really liked the suite with a garden view, with panoramic windows and a little balcony, a separate living room, though it has one single bed, but that's not such a big issue. Its price is higher, 290 dollars per night, but I would make that sacrifice because the other rooms did not impress me much.
I was attracted to the rooftop garden with a magnificent city view, I would feel like I was in a real oasis amid the city's stone skyscrapers.
Unfortunately, breakfast is not included in the room rate, you have to pay for it separately. And if you take it together with the room, the price will increase to 350 dollars. Although we need to calculate how much we will spend on breakfast in a cafe, maybe it’s more profitable. However, according to reviews, not everyone is satisfied with the breakfast and the hotel overall. They also write that the area is not the safest. In general, it's a controversial option.

This hotel is located near the BMO Stadium. I found it interesting; maybe we could go to a game. Also, the Los Angeles Natural History Museum is nearby. I just love places like that, and we will definitely visit it after the hospital.
Currently, this hotel is the furthest away, if traveling by taxi, it takes about 20 minutes. But this is the best option, because it takes about an hour by public transport, which is quite long for us.
The room here can be booked for up to 200 dollars, which is nice. They are not very remarkable, similar in style to the previous hotel. But the double rooms can be found within our budget, and what's great is that there is room service available.
Also, the reviews here are good, everything is clean, and I didn't find any particular complaints from the guests.
At Mckay's restaurant, breakfast is served in a buffet format daily from 6:30 to 11:00 AM, but it comes at an additional cost. This is a downside for us, as it adds extra expenses. It's great that there is a pizzeria here; we would order delivery to our room to watch a movie and relax after a long day at the hospital.

I liked this hotel because it is small, which means there won't be too many people. Also, it has panoramic windows, I love a lot of light. I think this option is quite interesting and deserves consideration.
You can reach the hospital by taxi in just 15 minutes, while public transport requires multiple transfers. It is unlikely that we will travel like that, and the journey will take around 50 minutes.
The rooms here are very spacious! The design is minimalist, somewhat reminiscent of a hospital😅, but quite stylish. It's not a fully-fledged bathroom in the room, but at least it is separated by a door, not a curtain. It's a pity that there are no rooms with double beds, but at least there is one large one.
Many guests spoke positively about this place. They especially praised the cleanliness, friendly staff, and the fact that it is a new and small building.
Here, of course, they only serve pastries with coffee and tea for breakfast, but they are fresh and from a local bakery.
Overall, it's a decent option for its rating as a three-star hotel.
Martha Jones
The first hotel impressed me with its vacation atmosphere, abundant greenery, sunshine, pool, and interesting room style. They can be booked for about 180 dollars, which fits within our budget. Additionally, it has a good location less than 1 km from the city center.
I was pleased that I can get to the hospital without transfers by bus or metro, the journey will take about 40 minutes. I think we won't be using it every day. Sometimes I would take a taxi, it will be faster – from 13 to 17 minutes. The hotel also offers free bike rentals, maybe we will choose this option, as we can get there in 25-30 minutes.
There is Grand Hope park nearby, we can take a walk after the examinations, as well as the Grammy Museum. One of these days we will definitely go there, even if we don't choose this option for accommodation.
Of course, I liked the room with two double beds more, it's bigger, but the Cosy Queen with one bed fits our budget better, luckily it's big and comfortable, according to the reviews. Also, the booking includes the "wake-up call" service! This is just perfect for us, as my sister and I often don't hear alarms, we have such a deep sleep. And also, the room has a view of the pool, which adds points in my eyes.
Of course, I was attracted here by the outdoor pool, as my sister and I love swimming, and this detail will make our trip more enjoyable.
I liked the menu of the restaurants, they serve dishes of French, Peruvian, and Spanish cuisine. And upon request, they prepare vegetarian, lactose-free, and kosher dishes. Since I can't have dairy for breakfast, I think I will be able to choose something suitable for myself. Also, at The Hoxton, you can order room service, my sister and I love watching movies and eating, so this service will help create a homely atmosphere.
