I will soon need to take my grandmother to Los Angeles, specifically to the University of Southern California Medical Center. For this reason, I have been looking for a hotel that is nearby. To make the examination period as comfortable as possible for her, I plan to book a five-star hotel. I found three good options, they are quite close, and I want to see what services and accommodations they offer. Then I will choose the best one. I like the hotel chain The Ritz-Carlton, I myself often stayed with them in other cities. Therefore, I really hope that this hotel will not disappoint me here. And especially - my grandmother.

Location near the hospital

I think that for such a big city as Los Angeles, the travel time is not long: 12 minutes by taxi and 40 by public transport. I will be taking my grandmother by taxi, as it will be the best option for her well-being, so within 11-13 minutes we will already be at the hospital.

Although you can reach it without transfers on the Metro J Line (910/950) or on the 707 bus, this option is also quite convenient.

Hotel Rooms

I liked the room with two queen-size beds and a view of the city. It's not very spacious, but it's not small either. There is also a sofa with a table where you can read, relax, or have a cup of tea or coffee, a dressing table, and a large closet in the hallway. The bathroom, on the other hand, is spacious, with a comfortable sink (there are two faucets) and you can choose either a bathtub or a shower. At least, that's what I understood from the photos. It seems to me that such a room would be quite suitable for me and my grandmother!

Food

It was important for me to have restaurants in the hotel, as we won't be going to cafes in the city. And there are several here, which, according to reviews, are very good. Grandma loves Italian cuisine, so the Esspressamente ILLY restaurant is just right for us. She will only have one day when she will have tests done, so she will be able to have breakfast and enjoy freshly brewed coffee the rest of the time. There are also Chinese and American cuisine restaurants here; maybe I can persuade Grandma to try something new.

Hotel services

I would definitely book a treatment package at the wellness center for my grandmother. She loves massages and facial treatments. And I would sunbathe on the hotel terrace during that time, and then join the spa for skin rejuvenating treatments.

This hotel is four stars, but based on prices and appearance, you wouldn't say so. It had good reviews, so I wanted to take a closer look, so to speak.

Location near the hospital

From the hotel, we could also take a taxi, the drive will take about 15 minutes on average, which suits us. And by public transport (metro and bus), it is possible to reach without transfers in 30 minutes. There are as many as five options for such routes. This is less than the distance from the first option.

Impressions of the hotel

The hotel itself and the lobby are very beautiful, reminiscent a bit of a palace. It opened on October 1, 1923, and it has a very interesting history. Also, many famous personalities have stayed there. Because of this, it is included in the "Historic Hotels of America" program. I think it will be a very cool place to stay.

Hotel rooms

The rooms here are nice, with rich details, large beds, and a living area. I am choosing between a studio suite and a suite, both with two beds. The studio has a very cozy fireplace and a large living room, while the regular suite is not as spacious. I’m still considering whether we need so much space. The bathroom, in my opinion, is too white; I think it’s not very comfortable for the eyes. And I don’t like the carpets here; their colors are unfashionable and outdated.

Dining at the hotel

There is a café and restaurant here, and the reviews for them are quite good. They say the selection of dishes is small, but among them, there are tasty options, such as white fish with rice and French onion soup. However, the breakfast in buffet format delights with its variety and quality. Therefore, overall, the guests' opinions satisfied me.

This hotel, also four-star, I liked for its relaxed, luxurious, and stylish atmosphere. There is a wonderful rooftop pool where you can sunbathe, and overall it seemed cozy to me.

Location near the hospital

About all the hotels from my list, you can reach the hospital in 12–13 minutes, this one is no exception. And by bus or metro, we can get there directly in 35–40 minutes.

Nearby there will be Grand Hop Park, maybe after the hospital, my grandmother and I will go for a walk there.

Hotel Rooms

I was pleased to see that there are rooms for people with limited physical abilities. Even though my grandmother moves around freely, it’s still great that such detail has been considered.
I would choose a room with two queen-size beds; guests write that they are very comfortable. I liked that there are free toiletries and a living area with a TV. My grandmother won’t miss her evening series. I didn't see it in the photos, but there was such information in the room description. Overall, I liked the junior suite with a king-size bed more; it is spacious, with a large living room and a luxurious bathroom, but there is only one bed. I don’t know if it will be comfortable for us.

Dining in the hotel

There are several restaurants here, and according to guests, they offer local and international menus. It was important to me that everything was made from the freshest ingredients; based on the reviews, I was convinced of this, and I was also pleased with the wide selection of drinks. I noted that the reservation includes a continental breakfast, which is delicious and has a variety of dishes to suit every taste. It suits us perfectly!
