My acquaintances recently returned from Amsterdam and were absolutely delighted with the city and their vacation. My husband Nick and I thought, why not take a trip to Holland ourselves, especially since we haven't been on vacation in over a year. There are many beautiful places in Amsterdam. These include the Singel and Grachtengordel canals, where you can stroll along the water, admire the old houses, or enjoy the evening view of the canal from one of the many bridges, and the Jordaan district—a quiet cozy corner in the western part of the city with historic houses, narrow streets and canals, picturesque courtyards, as well as numerous parks, gardens, museums, and small villages. Since we can't visit all the places in one week, my husband and I decided that we would stay in a hotel with a view of one of these locations, a landmark, or simply in a picturesque corner. I searched for five-star hotels in Amsterdam, and there weren't many, but I loved them all. Now it's just a matter of showing Nick and choosing the perfect one for both of us. The image galleries and prices get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on May 23, 2025.

I liked this hotel both externally and internally by design — a kind of glamorous loft, as well as its close proximity to the canals. It differs from the first one in atmosphere and location, so I decided, why not add it too, especially since the choice was limited. And there is also a garden with a terrace here, and I really love places like that!
This hotel is located on the banks of the Keizersgracht canal, right in the heart of Amsterdam, and the view from it is very cozy. The brick walls in a loft style create a unique vintage atmosphere. I would love to live here and watch the trees growing by the canal and how the sunset rays fall on the water. The courtyard is also beautiful, not as picturesque as the first, as there are no lawns and flowers, but you can see the beautiful hotel building, which looks very homey. And what dinners one could have in this place: the atmosphere would be very warm.
I found it very stylish to combine vintage, or perhaps even antique, furniture with modern pieces. Because of this, the rooms look stylish, and the beds are comfortable. I didn't quite understand how the bathroom is separated from the bedroom because I only saw a wall separating the spaces in the photo. If it is like this in all the rooms, then I am not very fond of such a layout.
Many recommend visiting the Vinkeles restaurant, located in a 18th-century bakery building. It has been awarded two Michelin stars, and such an opportunity should not be missed; we would definitely have dinner there.

The third hotel is already located in the city center, and the view from it is entirely different. In general, it reminded me of a palace; you feel like you are in another century when you live there. Of course, I'm speaking based on photographs, however, the atmosphere is conveyed to me that way.
When you look out of the hotel windows at the sights and the city center, it feels like you are immersed in the past. It’s an amazing feeling, especially when you are sitting on the balcony of your room and sipping morning tea. You can imagine that you are an important person leisurely getting ready for a walk and watching the life of the city.
Of course, my husband will have his own impressions of this view, but I think he will also appreciate such a perspective.
The rooms here are luxurious, and you can choose both an attic accommodation and a regular room. Although the word "regular" is not quite fitting. However, I would slightly reduce the number of details, as some rooms feel excessive, especially in combination with the wallpaper and furniture. Nevertheless, I really like everything else: the spacious bathrooms that are separate rooms, the balconies, the living room, and the presence of flowers in all the rooms.
Among the reviews, I noted the staff's work, who were kind and attentive. I appreciate when professionalism is maintained and they do not try to be your best friend. All the amenities here are top-notch: the beds are incredibly comfortable, fluffy white towels in the bathroom, great water pressure in the shower, and good appliances. Among the drawbacks, I pointed out that it can be a bit dark on the second floor of the hotel, in the bar and restaurant. The atmosphere is better suited for the evening than for lunch, but it would be perfect for a romantic date.

I liked that the Conservatorium hotel is located in the very center of Amsterdam's museum district. There is an incredible variety here, and it will be convenient that they are all nearby. Also, in the center, all the interesting places are literally just a couple of steps away. For example, the Royal Concert Hall, the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the famous Vondelpark, and the shopping area of Amsterdam. All of this is just a few minutes' walk from the hotel.
The spacious rooms with terraces and balconies offer a beautiful view of the city with its charming rooftops, brick houses, and lush greenery. The rooms themselves are large, providing plenty of open space. I love this spaciousness. They even somewhat resemble studios. The windows are large, allowing for a wonderful view of the surrounding environment outside. I enjoy watching the bustling life in the city, and this hotel is a wonderful place to observe this flow and to recharge from it myself.
I read that the luxury Akasha spa center in this hotel has been recognized worldwide in 2024 by the International Spa and Beauty Awards. I became incredibly curious about the services and amenities offered there, especially since hotel guests can visit for free 😏. There is Eastern massage, a hydromassage tub, a hammam, a Watsu pool, a large swimming pool, and a relaxation area.
There is a wonderful glass courtyard here where you can relax; I really liked it. Also, in the bar on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, you can listen to the hotel's personal DJ. It's great that you don't have to go far, as the hotel has all the entertainment. Overall, I really liked the hotel. It's such a stylish urban mansion that is itself a hub of various activities. It left very pleasant impressions behind.

The last hotel, but not in terms of significance, is also located along the canal, and I incredibly liked its design. The choice will not be easy, as all options practically have no obvious drawbacks! And the beautiful views that surround them increase their value in my eyes.
The view from the windows is very picturesque. I like how it changes depending on the floor: on the first, you will be surrounded by the greenery of the nearby trees, and a little higher — a view of the streets of Amsterdam and the Prinsengracht canal. Although the hotel is located in the city center, it has the atmosphere of a countryside house. Around is the Amsterdam that has remained unchanged for many years.
The rooms here probably impressed me the most. They are bright, but with dark elements, which looks incredibly stylish. I even wanted to create such a design in our country house bedroom, it impressed me so much. Although it's a historic building, everything looks new, incredibly comfortable, as evidenced by guest reviews. The bathrooms are amazing. However, I was a bit taken aback by the glass door of the toilet, but it's not present in all the rooms.
The hotel is located very close to the city center, about 1 km from it, and this is very convenient, it won't be so noisy. Also, there are many attractions nearby, such as the Anne Frank House Museum, Leidseplein Square, and Rembrandt Square. My husband will probably want to visit the Heineken Experience museum. I think he will notice this detail and want to stay here😄. And I will probably support him because I liked this hotel the most.

The first hotel is a true paradise and picturesque corner of nature and the city that completely captivated me. Its lawns, flowerbeds, and gardens look incredible, and I really wanted to see this hotel on my list and to stay here as well. I'll probably say the same about all the hotels here. 😄
At Waldorf Astoria, you can choose rooms with views of the canal, the courtyard garden, or the city rooftops. I couldn't decide which I liked more because both views are stunning. At night, the canal is beautifully illuminated, creating an incredibly romantic atmosphere, the courtyard is a very quiet and cozy place, and the lovely balconies offer views of the narrow streets of this wonderful city. I'm glad I'm not choosing alone.
The rooms here are luxurious: bright, spacious, with large beds and wonderful bathrooms, which are also quite large in size. In some, besides two sinks, there are two shower cabins, which seems very convenient to me, as my husband won’t have to wait for his turn in the bathroom 😅. Moreover, in the reviews, people say that everything is very comfortable and clean in the room, which is important.
Overall, the hotel is located on Herengracht Street, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is already a very cool fact that adds significance to staying here. The view from the hotel is also very unusual and fairy-tale-like. It consists of 6 small palaces, which looks very charming. The Waldorf Astoria is just 150 meters from Rembrandt Square and 1.5 km from the shopping street PC Hooftstraat, where we wanted to stroll and buy gifts for our friends.
In hotels, it is common to have a swimming pool and spa, I usually don't pay much attention to it, but here there is a Guerlain spa center, and I love this brand, so I would definitely go there. I also liked that for an additional fee, you can rent a bicycle. After all, not riding a bicycle in Amsterdam would mean wasting your vacation; we definitely won't miss that walk.
